Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2013 – 2nd place Landscape - The Land category

31st March 2014

The Buachaille Range from Beinn a’Chrulaiste, Glen Coe

The image itself was one of those moments when my expectations were exceeded. Considerable planning had been required in order to catch the rising sun in its most advantageous position. I remember running around the mountainside to get into a position to capture the warm morning light before the sun disappeared into the clouds.

This is the first competition I have entered and am completely overwhelmed with my success. It is a great honour to have been shortlisted and an even more wonderful feeling to have received an award. I love photography and have been recording Scotland’s landscape for almost a decade. The quality of light and variety of scenery offers endless opportunities to capture unique images.
